Comparison
Ruumio vs Sonido
Sonido suits a recording, podcast or rehearsal studio that runs its work from quotes and invoices and takes Stripe payments or deposits on its Studio plan; Ruumio suits studios and rooms rented by the hour whose clients find a free time on the studio's own website, book it and pay by card themselves. Sonido publishes less about its product than many tools, so this page sticks to what its own pricing page says and names what it doesn't describe.
Two tools for studios
Sonido presents itself as software for recording, podcast and rehearsal studios. Its pricing page lists three plans: Solo for one room and one user, Studio for up to three rooms and up to ten users, and a custom plan for four or more rooms or several locations. Quotes and invoices are on every plan.
Ruumio is booking and management software for any room rented by the hour: podcast, music and photo studios, rehearsal rooms and meeting rooms. Its plans include one, five or ten rooms, more rooms can be added to any plan, and rooms can be grouped by location on every plan.
Online booking and the website
Sonido's pricing page doesn't describe a public booking site where clients choose a time themselves. If that's what you need, ask Sonido how its clients book.
In Ruumio clients book on the studio's own website: each studio gets one with a page builder, templates and its own domain, with free times and booking on the page. A booking widget puts the calendar on a site you already have, guests can book without an account if you allow it, and a booking link shares just the calendar in a message.
Payments, deposits and quotes
Sonido's pricing page lists Stripe payments and booking deposits on the Studio plan, and quotes and invoices on every plan. That fits work that is agreed before it is booked, such as a recording project priced up front.
Ruumio takes the whole price by card at booking, into the studio's own Stripe account, and holds the time while the client pays. It has no deposits and no quotes: each booking is priced by the room's rates, including peak and off-peak rates, day rates and extras. Cancellations are refunded by your policy, every payment gets an invoice and every refund a credit note, with VAT, and companies can book on account and get one invoice a month.
Regulars, team and the door
Sonido's pricing page doesn't describe memberships, prepaid hours, door access or booking languages. Ruumio sells member plans with hours per room (Standard and Pro), hour packs and gift cards (Pro) and discount codes (Standard and Pro).
Ruumio's roles decide what each person in the team can open, and staff such as sound engineers can be assigned to bookings (Standard and Pro). With the UniFi Access add-on every booking gets its own door PIN, and visitor pages and e-mails can be offered in 26 languages.
Which one fits
Sonido fits a studio that works mostly on agreed projects, where a quote, a deposit and an invoice matter more than clients booking a slot themselves. Ruumio fits a studio or rehearsal space where clients book and pay online on their own, often at short notice and outside staffed hours.
Sonido offers its trial through a demo, and its pricing page mentions annual billing. Ruumio starts with a 14-day trial you open yourself, with no card needed, and is billed monthly or yearly.

Questions
Does Ruumio take deposits?
No. In Ruumio the client pays the whole price by card when booking, and a cancellation is refunded by your policy: in full before a deadline, a share after it.
Can Ruumio send quotes?
No. Ruumio prices each booking from the room's rates and extras. For project work agreed in advance, an admin can book the time for the client, and companies can book on account and pay a monthly invoice.
Is Ruumio only for music studios?
No. It fits any room rented by the hour: music, podcast and photo studios, rehearsal rooms and meeting rooms, each with its own hours, rules and prices.
Can I bring my data over from Sonido?
Ruumio has no automatic import from Sonido. You set up rooms, hours and prices in the admin, and your clients make an account or book as guests.
